Why Organic Bamboo?
Bamboo Earth Qualities
One of the many great qualities of the bamboo plant is its ability to grow rapidly. It is the fastest growing plant on the planet. Bamboo has been measured to grow 47.6 inches in a twentyfour hour period.
A grove of bamboo release 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. When you cut a tree down you will need to reseed/replant. It will take decades for a tree to reach its full maturity.
In contrast, when bamboo is cut down it is not destroyed and does not need to be replanted. Bamboo’s root system remains intact and entirely renewable and sustainable. The bamboo simply re-grows and can reach maturity in four years.
Bamboo contains a natural antibacterial agent and pesticide known as “Bamboo Kun”. This innate quality of bamboo means it is not necessary to treat the bamboo crop with pesticides or chemicals. The crop can be grown completely natural.
Bamboo Fabric Qualities
Bamboo fabric is incredibly soft, with a silky, smooth texture far more luxurious than even the finest cotton. Bamboo is regularly compared to silk textiles and cashmere fabric.
Bamboo is highly durable and water absorbent. It can handle up to three times its weight in water. This durability makes for an excellent choice for items that get a lot of use and need to be laundered frequently.
Bamboo fabric has exceptional wicking ability that will pull moisture away from the skin so that it can evaporate. Because of its smooth fibers and the lack of chemical additives bamboo is a popular fabric choice for babies. Bamboo's natural insulating properties will keep you cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold.
Our bamboo is man made from the finest bamboo fibers. Spun from regenerated cellulose rayon. All natural with no chemicals used in the making of the fabric.
The bamboo used for fabric is made out of Moso bamboo - it is not the same species that is consumed by Panda Bears for food.
